When the CSE programme takes the view that homosexuality is okay, that is not neutral and it is taking a stand for homosexuality.
This contravenes MOE’s understanding of what should and should not be taught; and is the likely reason for the suspension of the programmes. I have no doubt CSE programmes will be allowed to be resumed when pro-homosexual positions are excluded from the lessons.
To take a neutral position, the CSE trainers should be responding to any questions on homosexual sex along the lines that it is a crimminal offence in Singapore; and that this is because it is the view of a majority of Singaporeans who still prefer a more conservative approach towards sexuality, believing that a stable heterosexual family should be the norm and the building block of our society; and as views on such issues are intricately bound with the cultural and religious mores of each family, students should speak to their parents if they have any further questions.
I think parents will be more comfortable with such an approach.

One word — parents. One of the things that the sage threw up was the issue of parenting in Singapore. There remains a need to equip people on parenting skills and in this case, how parents should talk to their kids about sexuality. As adults, they would be more than capable of making a decision on how they should teach their kids about sexuality. But first, they need to know what, why and how.
